General project description
It is an online portal of IUCN which contains information about the natural heritage of our planet and brings up points about biodiversity conservation and protection.
The client requested us on the eve of applying for a grant. Under time constraints we had to use our Aimprosoft professional potential to save the planet. Content and distributed collaboration is a critical point of this project. So we got down to provide guaranteed validity of it with tailored Liferay solutions.
A project came with incorrectly designed architecture and poor code quality. First of all, we refactored existing codebase, cleaned it up, fixed critical bugs of logic, and only then moved to the new features to implement. Building up rules of the role hierarchy to manage content in the workflow, multilanguage support, documents export in .doc and .pdf lay ahead of us.
After code refactoring, it became possible to decrease the time for development functionality up to 3 times. The tuned workflow allows a reviewer to control data entry on all stages of activities to be done (values, threats, benefits, projects, references, etc.).
This is not the first time we help nonprofit organizations to implement enterprise solutions. An enthusiastic team of IUCN can collaborate now looking after nature via a single hub. Now World Heritage Outlook is ready to be of use.
